Thoughts From Sunday!
I just wanted to take a moment and share some of my thoughts from this past Sunday’s worship experience. My first thought is WOW! Ephesians 3:20 was so true! He did immeasurably more than I imagined! It was one of those days that I truly believed would be the most memorable Sunday we’ve had to date but there’s always the side of you that wonders what will actually happen. 54 baptisms and 900 people later I still shake my head in amazement of God when I think about it!
Every baptism represented it’s own unique story of how God worked in someone’s life to bring them to the realization of who Jesus is. I was so inspired by the courage I saw in the men and women who came forward to take their next step and be baptized! I am also excited when I think about all of the other next steps that were represented in the auditorium and my prayer is that we will all follow through with the next steps God put on our heart!
One of my favorite stories from Sunday was having the privilege to baptize a mother and daughter! The mother told us that God had been talking to her about being baptized in her quiet time for a while now. She came to Statesboro to visit her daughter who attends GSU and came to Connection with her daughter. “It just happened” to be the Sunday that we were doing the baptisms! Both of them took their next step! AWESOME!!
Looking ahead…I know this may sound crazy but I am actually more excited about the next few Sundays than I was coming into the GATA series! We are starting a new series called “I AM”. I can’t wait to explore who Jesus is and who we are because of Him! I really feel like we are coming into a season of laying a strong foundation for us to continue to build upon. Continue to pray…invest…and invite people who are far from God and/or don’t go to church! This past Sunday was the tip of the iceberg…there is so much more that God wants to do in the hearts of people here in Statesboro!
Sunday was the first time I’ve never gotten muscle fatigue from doing so many baptisms…but I look forward to it happening again! I’ve already decided that next time some other folks are going to have the opportunity to do some dunking!
Celebrating people going from death to life in Christ…PRICELESS!
THE BEST DAYS ARE YET TO COME! (I truly love the church I get to lead!!)
